Answer – Our stomach is located in our upper abdomen, between the esophagus and small intestine. Food is stored in the stomach and is also digested. Food is only partially digested in the stomach. The stomach releases digestive juices which process the food. Partially digested food then enters the small intestine.

Stomach cancer forms in the tissues that line the inside of the stomach. The cells in the stomach lining start multiplying abnormally. This is the beginning of stomach cancer. Over a period of time, these cancerous cells spread all over the intestine. They spread and go inside the stomach wall. If not treated in time these cancerous cells may spread to nearby organs and cause more damage. The cancer is classified in various stages, from Stage 0 to Stage 5. Stomach cancer cells grow very slowly. It may take many years before symptoms become visible.
